Balance---

what is it exactly?----keeping equalibrium-----not tipping the scales----we hear things like: balancing the budget---eating a balanced diet------balancing all the roles we play--responsibilities we have--- balancing "the hats we wear".......

If you think about it, just like there is no perfect body, or person, "perfection does not really exisit" balance really in it's truest form does not exist--our effort towards balance DOES---maybe working with numbers we can balance the budget--but in most other area's of our lives the goal is to strive towards balance.

The effort is the "getting there."

Examples: I looked at all the traveling I used to do--I realized that home life was really almost none existent because I was never home----so I cut way back on saying YES to things which caused me to travel---I was then home more---more time for the kids and hubby---but then financially things grew unbalanced --- less travel meant less income--and that put an imbalance on home life in another way.

I make an effort to stay active no matter what--not just classes I teach but my own personal workouts--when classes I teach cause me to be so tired that my own workouts just do not have the umph they should--does it make sense that there's balance in teaching 16 plus classes a week and then do even more on top of that?

Balancing work time, play time, personal time, family time--is it all ever really balanced? Or should we realize our awareness for the need to make the effort towards balance(when we notice or feel something is really off-kilt) is that the true definition of balance--the trying part of it---the "making the effort part of it"?

I feel pretty comfortable saying that balance is not a steady state but a continuous check and re-measure/ re-evaluate state--BE AWARE!

So whether our food choices, our activity, our time, our lives are ever in balance--the goal is that we stay sensitive and aware when there is a extra heavy tilt in one area that really causes a major imbalance--and make an effort to even things back out to the best of our ability---

A.K.A. we need not beat ourselves up about everything when we feel off tilt--better to pat ourselves on the back for becoming aware and making the effort to rectify the situation--when is the last time you patted yourself on the back? It is high time eh?

Love, Dee
