Hey team! I 'mmmm back! Had great trip to the great northwest! Kidney stone and all! Yep-was diagosed with kidney stone(singular I guess) but hey one stone was enough to send me to screaming-type-pain-land--let me tell you---child birth is not that bad----looks like it flushed itself just before I was to fly west! Tried to rest best I could while I was out there.
Friday morning 1/30/04 I had 6 minute spot on KATU's AM Northwest--- we had a blast-- even got the host's and audience up and movin' and chanting our little "yes-sir-ree" poem! Then off to check out auditorium where the keynote would be- met with the tech guy and did run through with my first ever power point--finally got those trophies, gum, kisses and pictures so lots of people can see them--ha!
Then we met with photographer to slam down shots for next day--done just in time to head to local Barnes and Noble to do book signing there.
On 1/31 the Keynote address went off without a hitch---the auditorium seated over 1000--everyone was all spread out --but I believe there were over 500 or so in attendence. Afterwards there was table outside at the Resource Fair for me to sign books and meet and greet. One sweet young lady came up to table and as I went to shake her hand she turned into tears--I just got up and hugged her to daylights--sometimes you really do not need words---affirming for people that it is okay to be who you are, the way you are and that, that is the foundation to start to change---can be very emotionally freeing--her reaction touched my heart as my words during my address touched hers. It really is okay just the way we are-- as long as we try to make progress towards better health and more active lifestyles!
Thanx to Ann and Katie-for hangin' with me in Vancouver-Brian for the power point which rocked and the sponsors Community Choice 2010 and YMCA of Clark County. Go Barbara--Go Kristine!
Ended my trip with great massage-thanx to Mitzy and home I flew! If you have never gotten over to Oregon and/or Washington--it truly is a must do before ya die place to visit. Great event!
Pictures from this great visit will be coming on website real soon!
It's good to be home--snow, cold and all!
Cheers-- Dee
