Hey team! I really do not mean to be so long in between chats-single parenting teenagers definitely has it's challenges. Running the YWCA Aurora pool, teaching classes there and at 2 others places, and forming a neighborhood organization to keep out the riff raff has me going 90 to nothing! Here's some tips for the summer- 1) think about taking you bike on any commute that is under 5 miles one way. Saves gas-helps your heart and body! 2) cross train and then some more: swim one day, take a cycle class the next, try a deep water exercise class the next day, then lift weights and walk around the local park trail- diversity of activity really keeps your body rockin' and your boredom to a minimum 3) drink more water-I am doing the Evian challenge on line-earn some free Evian and check in every day to log it in--check it out at www.evianchallenge.com, 4) yard work counts, raking counts, mowing the yard (not on a riding lawn mower-tho'), pruning tree's, planting, weeding-yep you work outside in your yard for a full afternoon and trust me you burn some energy-key is not to take in more energy than we need -eh? On that thought, I rather like the concept of not counting calories but thinking of calories as energy(hey that truly is "what it is" when ya break it down--on a molecular level wayyyy down-yuk yuk). Energy in helps our body inside and out-- energy out keeps our skeletal and muscular system going. Easy math= more energy in than out- body stores extra energy and we see it on our tummies, and elsewhere----more energy out than in--body uses up extra energy to maintain--hey! There's a real super concept--maintain--that is really the challenging part. Would it be better to loose a bit of fat and keep that off versus lose and gain-lose and gain---can I get a YEESSSS Deeeee!? I go back to my gospel that I have been preaching since 1989--exercise at any size and reap the rewards! I am off to Toronto for the WATERArt Conference-give ya'll the wonderful DEEtails when I return. Be good to you-! Love, Dee
