Happy New Year to you!
So have you heard Chicago was voted the fattest city in America--great news eh? It is not a matter of food, though most would argue that point-it is a matter of not getting off the couch. Way too much emphasis is placed of food, portions, good food, bad food, when to eat, what to eat, how to eat--yadda...yadda...
No wonder so many throw up the hands and say to heck with it all.
Imagine this: No more billboards with only svelte bodies of totally unrealistic images--magazines with REAL PEOPLE of all sizes, shapes, ages, on the covers. Fitness clubs, gyms that said they had something for everyone and when you went to try them out--they actually backed up what they advertised. More bicycle roads so that mile for mile we had as many routes to bike and walk as we do to drive our cars. Insurance incentives, work incentives, school incentives to allow for activity time, sports time ,exercise times, and reward those who got and stayed active.
Listening to professional nutritionists and dieticians and breaking the habit of buying into "quick fix diets." Replacing that spending on fresh fruits, veggies, fitness clothes, shoes, equipment, we might actually be able to take some of the $30 plus billion a year spent on the stuff we know does not work for our health and put it to much better use. Improving schools system curriculums that embrace health , exercise, wellness, instead of cutting it when the money runs low.
Imagine all of this over a period of time--we would CHANGE our health, our statistics, our lives for the better! Call me a dreamer but I live for that day and those times!
It starts now!
It starts with you!
It starts with me!
Let's just do it! Hugs, Dee
